Q: What are the different types of carpet pile?

A: Again, see our buyer's guide.

Q. What’s the best kind of flooring in kitchens and bathrooms – wood, laminate or vinyl?

A: Kitchens and bathrooms are harsh environments for flooring, because they are humid. You also need to have something underfoot that’s not slippery.

Vinyls are a good floor covering in these areas because they are hard-wearing and durable, and their patterns are very complementary to bathroom and kitchen fittings.

Wood also makes a handsome flooring in these areas, and laminate is a good cheaper alternative, but choose one that works well in potentially damp conditions.

Q: How can I be sure I’ve chosen the right colour?

A: Use our free sample service – you order them online and we deliver them to your door.

Q: How do I measure up my room so I buy the right amount of carpet?

A: Measure your room from the longest and widest points – or alternatively we’ll come and measure up for you when it’s convenient for Free! just click the box in the top right of this page

Q: Do I need underlay?

A: Yes, when you buy carpet. Underlay is an extra layer that goes underneath the carpet, protecting the carpet, providing insulation and extra comfort underfoot, so it’s important. When you buy underlay from us, we give you free fitting!
