Carpet costs and finance options

Shopping for a new carpet can sometimes be daunting, and confusion over pricing can make the experience even more difficult. This is why we like to be open and upfront about our costs, so you can rest easy knowing that the price you're quoted is exactly what you'll be paying. There are no hidden extras, and our fitting, measuring and estimating services are completely free of charge (conditions apply).

What your carpet will cost

We price carpets per square metre. The cheapest carpets in our range start at £3.99 per square metre, while the most expensive cost £50 per square metre or more. The price range is broken down as follows:

Cheapest

£3.99 per square metre

Mid-range

£15 per square metre

Upper mid-range

£20 per square metre

High-end

£50 per square metre

These prices do not include costs for the following:

Carpet gripper
A wooden strip fitted around the edge of a room that keeps carpet in place

£2 per 5ft

Door bars
Strips of material that hold down carpet in the threshold of a doorway, to avoid tripping and transition to the flooring in the next room

£5 each for standard 3ft length

Underlay
Special material that provides extra cushioning and insulation, dampens noise etc.

Prices vary—see below

Obviously, the total price you pay will depend on the size of the room you are carpeting. A large master bedroom is going to cost more than a hallway, a living room more than a box room. For an idea of what different-sized rooms will cost to carpet, see the tables below:

What we don't charge you for

Free estimate and measure service

It’s crucial that we have an accurate measurement of your room so we can fit your carpet quickly, easily and without any further expense. Our expert estimators will measure your room and give you a precise estimation of how much your carpet will cost. They can also advise you on all aspects of the fitting process.

The estimators will:

  • accurately measure your room
  • suggest any work that may need doing before your carpet can be fitted
  • make suggestions for underlay and any other accessories
  • provide an estimate for the most cost-effective way to fit the carpet

PLEASE NOTE: Although we'll provide the most accurate estimate we can, there may be issues that arise on the day we come to fit your new carpet, once the old carpet is removed. As a result, there may be some additional charges, which we'll discuss with you before going ahead with the work.

Free fitting service

What's the use in buying a carpet for a great price when the cost of fitting swallows up any savings you've made? At United Carpets & Beds, we'll fit your carpet for free when you buy the equivalent size in our Airstep or Treadmore underlay. Not only will this give you a luxurious feel underfoot, but it'll protect the carpet and prolong its life.

If you aren’t buying underlay with your carpets, you can still benefit from our very reasonable fitting charge of £2 per square metre (minimum charge £30).

PLEASE NOTE: We charge an extra £20 for carpeting stairs.

Free samples

We don't expect you to buy without doing your research. Pick four of your favourite carpets and have samples delivered straight to your door, absolutely free of charge.

Interest free credit

Buying a carpet can involve a big outlay, so we allow you to spread the cost over a number of years, interest-free. Spend £500 or more on any carpet and you can apply for finance. It's quick and easy and we don't ask for a deposit.
